Felt Play Blocks - the Final Frontier

This is the final product - a completely sewn together and stuffed wool block. The block was sewn together with black sport-weight yarn (80% cotton, 20% wool) using blanket stitch and a darning needle, it went together very quickly though I did learn that you should stitch all the way to the ends of the squares. I had left some unsewn thinking it would get joined with the tops and bottoms, but not so. I did have to go back and sew the ends up.

The block was stuffed with wool and happily tossed about by BananaMuffin. I really enjoyed the project but I do think the size is too large for a small child, and is even a bit large for a toddler. I think the second block I will make a full inch smaller - 3 1/2" square rather than 4 1/2" and see how that goes. This was definitely an enjoyable project, I can't wait to make more! I especially enjoyed the needle felting. I think the second block will have a transportation theme - a car and a sailboat.
