Today is a beautiful February day. Hovering around the zero mark and sunny with light winds - a perfect day for a walk. I decided to pack up Spunky in the BabyHawk mei tai. Once strapped in comfortably, I wrapped us both up in our Peekaru Babywearing Vest, and along with my daughter, BananaMuffin, and our retired racing greyhound Sprite, we went for a little walk around the block. Because BananaMuffin walks with us, we move at a two-and-a-half-year-old pace, which means we stop to explore every rock, stick, trickling water, and anything else that might be of interest. It was perfect. We were comfortable, warm, and just enjoying the day.
I'd forgotten how much I enjoy my BabyHawk. Often times, I simply reach for our Ergo, which is very easy to put on and adjust with buckles, but I really find it easier to get Spunky on my back, by myself, with the BabyHawk. I just "swing" him around to my back, lean forward, and the BabyHawk straps are long enough that I can "flip" them up over my shoulders and adjust them accordingly. And, although I wore Spunky on my front today for our walk, he spent about an hour on my back later in the afternoon while BananaMuffin and I made chocolate chip cookies for a pot luck we're attending this weekend.
The BabyHawk has been THE most popular carrier purchased by moms for their newborns. And don't forget that BabyHawks are reversible too - although these particular BabyHawks have fabric prints on only one side, you can easily reverse it to the solid (strap) colour if dad objects to the pattern you've chosen (as mine does!)
To demonstrate just how easy it is to tie your BabyHawk, here's a little video we came across on YouTube:
