That's One Smart Cookie

Growing up, I had a friend named Robyn who had relatives that lived near my house, and she would often visit during Summer vacations. She lived in a much larger city, and was just that much older than me that I would look up to her in all her teenage wisdom with envy at her sense of style and at what would lie ahead for me when I got to be her age.

We would write letters back and forth during the school year, but as years passed, we lost touch, but news of her life always reached me through her relatives, who are close friends of my family. Robyn has gone on to be incredibly successful. She has recently graduated with a Masters Degree in Social Work from my own alma mater, Dalhousie University, and in a wild turn of events, formed a money club called Smart Cookies. The Smart Cookies were "inspired by an episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on personal finance...together developing strategies for turning our finances around - without sacrificing our fabulous style or social lives."

The Smart Cookies have since launched a new TV show on W Network and will soon be releasing a book to help the rest of us get a handle on our spending.

While Robyn still has much more personal style in her baby toe than I will ever have, and I profess to not be able to focus long enough to buy a pair of shoes, I admire the hard work she has put in to achieving her goals. You just never know where life will take you. I'm proud of you, Robyn!
