CITO in Shubie

This morning, the whole family took part in our first CITO event, thanks to Scotian and his love of geocaching! CITO stands for Cache In, Trash Out, and is an "unspoken" rule in geocaching. The EcoTourism class at NSCC organized the event, handing out lovely blue rubber gloves and garbage bags. So, we walked the trails of Shubie park, talking to other cachers, picking up garbage along the way, and Scotian and BananaMuffin even found two new caches to add to their roster. It was an overcast, cool day, but it felt good to be cleaning up the community and a park that we enjoy so much.

BananaMuffin learned a great deal about stewardship (though she would never call it that, she liked the blue gloves best!) and taking care of the places you enjoy. A valuable lesson we could all learn!
