Brightly Coloured Birthday
I love birthdays. I probably go overboard. The entire week leading up to a birthday in our house is an "excuse" to do somewhat extravagant things we wouldn't normally do - like go out for ice cream, stay up a little later, little things like that. There are usually at least two cakes.
So spoiling ourselves with little gifts is generally in the works too. Since we were on vacation the week before "birthday week", I indulged in some super cute little pieces (and big pieces) of art.
But, one of the best gifts came from Jenny Junebug, who indulges my love of all things rainbow-coloured combined with my love of all things wool. She thoughtfully hand-dyed a skein of merino wool for me, hanging it out to dry in the Cow Bay...er...fog.Jenny also posted some great photos of the skein-in-progress on her blog.
At the moment, I've hung the skein up as an artwork in itself while I debate what best to do with it - mittens, scarves, children's sweaters have all been suggested, but somehow they just don't suit. Any suggestions are welcomed (I know there are some talented knitters out there!) Perhaps it will simply live in my little collection of found art pieces. Regardless, thank you Jenny for your thoughtfulness.
