Cleaning Out My Inbox
My computer is acting quite sluggish these days, but since I'm attached to it, I won't be replacing it any time soon. But, to free up some space, I thought I would clean out my inbox. I keep every email that is sent to me - order confirmations in one folder (separated by month and year), customer service questions, personal emails, accounting questions, newsletter subscribers, the list goes on. I'm sure anyone trying to sort through my email would pull their hair out, but I have a system that works.
Going back through the old emails, dating back to 2006, I realize that I see a lot of familiar names - repeating since those early days of Nurtured. This makes me so happy. I really feel that Nurtured has grown into it's own, and I have been so privileged to meet so many intelligent, interesting, engaged families over the last two years. Like in an Oscar speech, we wouldn't be here without you, and your support means so much to us!
Some of those names repeating through my inbox are now some of my best girlfriends. In a lot of professions, mixing "business" with "pleasure" is a definite no no, but what do you do when you take so much pleasure out of your business, and your business is your life and your passion? It all comes together.
So, while I weed through my emails to free up some space on this old beater of a computer, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone that we've gotten to know over the last two years. Because of you we now have an extensive network of support, referrals and sometimes even match making. For example, at a recent diapering workshop, we met a mom who is expecting twins. We were able to put her in contact with another cloth diapering local mom of twins to share her experience. We regularly help expectant moms find doulas, alternative health practitioners, products outside of our usual scope, and play date partners, to name a few. Beyond the website and the products, building relationships is something that means so much to me. We still have lots of great ideas and plans in the works, so stay tuned!
