The Meadow Sparrow

Since I was a quite young, I've loved the work of David Silverberg. He was a fine art professor for some time at Mount Allison and I recall during Summer festivals, he and his wife could cut a rug at the street dances! If anyone recalls that scene from Grease where Sandy and Danny Zuko (I must pull that movie out, it's been far too long!) are circled by the crowd in the gym while they dance - it was something like that. His art is highly regarded, and I absolutely love the detail that goes into his engravings. This year, for a combination of my birthday and our 5th anniversary, Scotian and I purchased "Meadow Sparrows". This is exciting. It caught my attention right away in the gallery, but when the gallery owner described it as a "lovely piece depicting how a mother nurtures her young", I was sold! We picked it up this weekend, and it is now hanging proudly in my living room (in that once empty corner near the Lilly Bean mobile), every time I look at it, I smile.

"You're the one that I want, you are the one I want, whoo hoo hoo." I couldn't resist.
