Bring On Beach Weather!

I'm officially tired of winter. The cold, the ice, the bundling up of children before going out anywhere, the bundling up of me before going anywhere...

Every year, Scotian and I say we're going to go down south for a week. His parents are Snowbirds, so it would be fairly easy. I even applied for passports for the kids this year. But every year, we don't. This year, Scotian changed jobs so has no vacation time and I have a little project underway that you may have heard about called the Nurtured Store ;)

So, when February starts to roll over into March, I start dreaming about warm sand and surf. And I hit the beach. For the past two Sundays, we've made little beach trips. Two weeks ago to Martinique Beach in Musquodoboit Harbour, and last week to Lawrencetown Beach.

Martinique Beach was wonderful for my spirit. I grew up on the Bay of Fundy and still miss having the water at my doorstep. Yes, I know, my house overlooks the harbour, and Halifax, but it's not quite the same. It's a great view, but it's a built environment, not a natural one. So with a warm onshore breeze blowing at Martinique, I found myself with my arms outstretched, singing and laughing. So good for the spirit.

Lawrencetown Beach was so much fun. We watched the surfers floating and bobbing like a pack of seals, and BananaMuffin and I dodged the waves, daring them to lick our boots. We squealed and ran as the waves broke nearer and nearer. It was so much fun.

I can't wait for beach weather!
