Coming Soon...

Some super cool products are coming soon. I'm so excited about these I can barely contain myself.
The first: Fagus toys from Germany. Fagus is latin for "beech", all of the Fagus toys are made of solid beech wood. They are made in such a way that there are no screws, rivets or nails - each piece is painstakingly joined by wooden dowels. These are toys that will last a lifetime and your grandchildren's lifetime. They are exclusive to the Nurtured store, will not be available online, and are not available anywhere else in the Maritimes.
The Second: Bamboletta Dolls. Christina at Bamboletta hand makes each and every one of her dolls and is a huge inspiration for my own dolls. Made in the Waldorf tradition, their skin is organic cotton interlock, the dolls are stuffed with clean, carded wool, with embroidered facial features and hand applied (and sometimes hand-dyed) hair. The clothing is made by former Nova Scotian mom (now living in BC) SillyCon, with the exception of the sweaters, that are hand knit by Christina's nonna. While these dolls are really for kids over 3 (and even older), we will also have handmade pouchy dolls for the younger babies. These are easy to manipulate and have just enough detail for little ones to love and cuddle. They are made with the same love and natural materials as the Bambolettas.

Third: Little Sapling Toys. When we had the Ogunquit Wooden Rattles, people would marvel over their workmanship and heirloom quality. We were so sad when the woodworker retired, and have been looking for something with the same qualities ever since. We've finally found it in Little Sapling. With the most incredible workmanship, these rattles are made of beeswax coated inlayed wood, which takes an incredible amount of skill. We're very excited to have these gracing our shelves. They also have some new developmental toys that we're thrilled about, with the only colour being the natural variations in different wood species. So exciting!

I think that's enough excitement for a Saturday morning, Scotian has a lovely batch of spelt waffles made and the aroma is too enticing to keep going.

Stay tuned for more!
