Sew Liberated
I'm in so much trouble: Sew Liberated. Check it out. You may all be in so much trouble too ;)
I learned of Sew Liberated from my latest issue of Stitch magazine, and holy cow, the blog! Oh my. That baby's room - so beautiful!
But, it was THIS that might have actually made my heart stop beating, just for a tiny second. A bird mobile! So cute, and I love the branch application even more. With so much scrap cotton around, I am pushing all other projects out of the queue and moving straight to this one. It's perfect - use up scraps, tiny birds that can be sewn in short spurts of craft-ness - what could be better?
Plus, my Fabricworm fabric - all of my Anna Maria Horner fat quarters (destined to become a quilt one day), plum fabric printed with mermaids (for lining aforementioned asymmetrical pleated skirt from Stitch Magazine), and Alexander Henry green owls (the same fabric worn by Bea, one of the Bamboletta gals in the store. I don't know the destiny of this fabric yet, but it's green, it's got owls on it, it was too cool to pass up.
When I opened the package Saturday morning, I was so excited that Scotian's eyes actually rolled that a person could be so excited over cotton. He chuckled and wished me a Happy Mother's Day, adding, "nothing I could have bought for you would have brought you that much excitement." He's probably right ;)
Today (Mother's Day), we did make a short trek to Lakeland Plant World in Dartmouth where I purchased a Hardy Kiwi, some lamb's ear, mint, and oregano to plant in the garden, along with some pea seeds. BananaMuffin and I planted the peas while my dad helped me dig out dandelions and tidy up the gardens a bit, all the while delicately prancing around last weeks' planting of clover that is now sprouting. Phase II of backyard naturalization (mostly) complete. Now is the hard part: waiting.
